Domaine Batard Langelier is situated in the commune of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, which is a small town just south of Nantes in the western Loire Valley. This area sits at the confluence of the Sèvre and Maine rivers. Here, the oceanic climate, granite-based soils, and centuries of winegrowing tradition converge to shape one of the most expressive zones for Muscadet wines. The name 'Les Prieres' is a reference to this granite rich soil.

Sometimes, we confuse Muscadet with Moscato, and excuse this wine for being a sweet, fruity white. Not so. Muscadet Sevre & Maine wine is made from the grape Melon de Bourgogne. This wine has a racy acidity, ocean-side saline notes, and crisp citrus fruit aromas.  It sits on the less (dead yeast cells post fermentation) for 7 months, giving it richer texture and body. (On the back of the bottle, you will see 'Muscadet Sevre & Main sur Lees 2024,' which is telling you about this lees contact. It is a signature style for the grape / area).

One of the wine world's favorite pairings is oysters with Muscadet Sevre & Maine, and we recommend it. Otherwise, any sea-fare is a match made in heaven.
