BENGOETXE 2023 Getariako Txakolina (Getaria, Spain)

BENGOETXE is a small, detail-oriented family farming land in the beautiful Basque Country, in Northern Spain. They are one of the few producers in this D.O that are not right next to the coast; in fact, they had to fight for a while to have their area included in the Getaria D. O, using evidence of pre-phylloxera vines in their village to steak their claim. From the village of Olaberria, which is a little warmer and has more clay dominated soils, the grapes are riper and sturdier. This makes for a unique and expressive wine from a region that is already responsible for some of the most crisp, thirst-quenching wines on earth.  With fruit, saline, and mineral qualities, this wine calls to Sancerre lovers - but has a hint of bright effervescence.
