We love having Priorat in store! Priorat is a region within Catalunya, Spain, that sits at a high altitude. Its altitude and unique soils (Licorella -or Slate) make the wine from this region incredibly singular, sought after, and delicious.
BLACK SLATE is a project spear-headed by Eric Solomon, a seriously well-seasoned wine importer based on the east coast. The viticulture is cared for by August Vincent. Why is this important? Because Vincent owns the oldest registered estate in Priorat. His grapes are excellent. The joint project means BLACK SLATE represents some of the greatest grapes in the village of Gratallops. There is amazing history here. The wine is a blend of Garnatxa Negra, (Grenache), Carinyena (Carignan) and Syrah from vines ranging from 20 to 65+ years old. Lush, spiced, dark and full bodied.
