CASTEL PUJOL is one of our new favorite projects around here. They are situated in the Rivera region of Uruguay, located way inland. Most other vines in Uruguay sit on the coast, making this a unique place. Soils here are volcanic & alluvial, iron-rich with great drainage. These soils led the PUJOL famliy to plant vines here in the 1970s, with the help of UC Davis.
100% Arinarnoa. Arinarnoa is a cross between Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark fruit abounds here, with hints of peppercorn. Medium bodied with soft tannins and moderate acidity, this red is absolutely chillable. Fermented with selected autochthonous yeasts. minimal intervention. SO2 only when bottling, without filtering, without clarifying.
