This Gran Vin de Bordeaux hails from the Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux AOC, an AOC that is undergoing a reputation change as we speak. It was long an AOC looked down upon for lower priced, lower quality wines within Bordeaux. Now, growers here are lowering yields and refocusing on winemaking techniques with the goal of revitalizing the reputation of Blaye towards good quality, fair priced wine. This bottle showcases it perfectly. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, loads of red fruit notes and supple tannins.
