100% Carmenere, sourced from vines plated in 1945. All hand harvested. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged 12 months in various oak barrels. Early harvest translated to juicy and fresh flavors in the glass. Red fruits with nuances of herbs and mushroom-like umami. Bright acid & sleek tannins, this is a crunchy Carmenere.
Fun fact: Carmenere, long thought to be Merlot, is a lost varietal of Bordeaux. Brought to Chile (1913), many thought it was Merlot until genetic testing (1985) showed it was indeed Carmenere, which was no longer planted in Bordeaux by then. Many of you know & love it, and if you don't - we want you to!
