The little-known gem - Susumaniello - is a red grape varietal that is native to Puglia. Only a handful of growers are producing this rustic, deep red. MASSERIA LI VELI is one of them - and this year they are showing it as a rosé (rosato, in Italian)! Dry and mineral driven, this rosato has great substance and aromatics. Askos is what they have named the project these wines are part of. The project is dedicated to the heritage of native wine varieties in the area. From the producer – “The wines are produced exclusively with grapes coming from particularly favourable areas in which the vine is trained following tradition. The symbol is an askos, a Greek “decanter” dating from the 1st century B.C.”
