PIRA 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo (Piedmont, Italy)

PIRA is a family run estate winery in the Serralunga region of Barolo, within Langhe (Piedmont). The family has been on the land since the early 19^th century, and PIRA was founded in 1950 by Luigi and Rosa Pria.

They specialize in Barolo, with offerings of Nebbiolo and Barbera d’Alba as well. This Langhe Nebbiolo comes from the Serralunga d’Abla subregion of Barolo, from vines planted in 1999 (so yes, this is like a baby Barolo at a great price). It ages 9m in Slovenian oak. Fruity & spicy with light notes of leather. Fine tannins and refreshing acidity.
