SCARPETTA 2022 Barbera Del Monferrato (Piedmont, Italy)

SCARPETTA, believe it or not, is a wine brand created by two Americans. The two Americans are listed on the back labels: one chef and one sommelier. They met in Napa Valley, CA, in a Napa award winning restaurant and became fast friends. They returned to Colorado and currently manage at least two restaurants. They started their venture of making wine across Italy with the idea of bringing in wine that paid homage to the great Italian wine and dinner culture – hence the name Scarpetta.

Scarpetta translates to the bread that you use to mop up everything on your plate after dinner. The idea of no delicious food and wine being left behind – that is their ethos.

This wine is Barbera – the fruity, fresh, great table wine of Piedmont. It’s home is in Monferrato, which is why they chose this place to source their grapes from.
